Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love, shares revelations from artists and geniuses – she also shares the profound idea that, instead of the rare person “being” a genius, all of us “have” a genius. It’s a humorous, personal and an inspiring talk – 19 minutes well worth watching.
What is the secret to becoming a successful writer and creating best seller books like “Eat Pray Love”? Besides having the talent and skills to be able to write, I have discovered 4 transformational techniques that are somewhat reinforced by Elizabeth’s talk and video here.
The 4 transformational techniques which will literally transform the way you write and ignite your inner genius are:
1. Ask – Be open to the idea that there is a higher source other than yourself that guides you and helps you to bring your ideas into existence. The history and the Greek origin of the word genius means guardian deity or spirit which watches over each person from birth; spirit, incarnation. So, you need to ask your genius for assistance. For example ask, “How can I express my thoughts and ideas to create a story of interest and inspiration.
2. Meditate – Take time to clear you mind and be connected to the present moment. When your mind is free from distractions and you are completely aware, ideas and inspirations flow through you more naturally. It only take 2 minutes to close your eyes and focus on your breath or your surroundings – which allows you to really become alive, alert and awake. Do it often throughout the day and your genius will be more available to you .
3. Affirm – Say to yourself out loud a positive affirmation which will reinforce what you want to accomplish. For example you could say, “I am an excellent writer and ideas easily flow through me.” Or you could say, “I am powerful, creative and expressive, I am grateful to be able to write successful pieces of literature.” Affirmations enhance manifestations.
4. Create – Continue to create as often as you can, especially when you feel inspired to write. Never give up on a project. If you need some time, put it aside for a few hours or days and then come back to it. Be consistent in creating, set specific times for your writing and start the process by practicing the techniques listed above. Don’t try hard – try easy.

I love it Jai. Asking your inner self (through meditation or introspection) is the best and easiest way to unfold your resources and unwrap your mind. As you know, I am strongly encouraging people to reconnect with their innate wisdom. It makes life so much easier and end struggling in so many areas.
Thank you for this video and the summary.
I would like to add one. Courage. You have to have the courage to do something that everyone else around you says is just a nice hobby.
I loved this post…. I love the idea of creativity coming from a divine source…
I agree that you have to present to get into the creative flow process…
@ Patrick -thank you… I agree we shouldn’t have to struggle so much to create what we want in life – meditation and introspection I find does work the best.
@JS – courage has played a big factor in allowing me to try new and different things, to expand my horizons.
@ Aman – yes your right – I really believe 2 minutes of meditation throughout the day can really bring you back to the present moment.
ole, thx for the post. At times I can relate to what she is saying. What a ride hey?
Oh, I love it that you start out with ‘ask’. That’s so right. …And the timing couldn’t be better to have read this. At the end of an unusually full week I’d lost my connection to that wellspring. It’s such a relief to remember that it’s this simple: just ‘ask’.
Yo Sunny.. nice to hear from ya…definitely enjoying the ride
Excellent advice. Always be willling to look at different avenues of any subject. Usually for me, I find that one subject leads to many topics. Keep a notepad always handy. Inspiration strikes at random times.
